Verde Vida is proud to announce the successful launch of our Washington Heights pop-up market at PS/IS 173, which has been serving the community since January 2026. Made possible through the generous support of the T-Mobile Foundation, this new site expands our mission to increase access to fresh, culturally relevant, and affordable food; including high-quality fresh produce while strengthening local food systems.
With this addition, Verde Vida now operates two sites in Washington Heights; deepening our impact in a neighborhood where geography can shape access. The area’s varied, hilly topography means that not all residents can easily reach the same resources. By establishing a presence at PS/IS 173, Verde Vida is now better positioned to reach new neighbors, students, and families experiencing food insecurity, ensuring that more community members can access fresh, nutritious food closer to where they live, learn and work.
Since opening, the PS/IS 173 pop-up market has become a vibrant hub for residents, offering fresh produce, seasonal offerings, community programming, and opportunities to connect with neighbors. The initiative reflects Verde Vida’s continued commitment to equity, sustainability, and community-driven solutions in neighborhoods that have historically faced barriers to healthy food access.
